Happy Birthday Marines!: Memory Monday November 10, 2014.

Happy Birthday Marines!

Last week I happened to be travelling in Florida and was waiting for my plane in Orlando while reading a book.  I was startled to hear a gate agent at Southwest airlines yell a "yahoo" and started applauding.  Looking up I saw a group of young Marines walking through the concourse in full gear. Her appreciation for their service soon spread like wildfire and within 30 seconds nearly every passenger in the area was on their feet and applauding the service of these young men. It was quite a scene.

This unusual experience was repeated several times for the next 30 minutes that day as every service person in uniform was similarly greeted from that point forward by all around gate 64 in the Orlando International airport.   It gave great pride in our country and our military.

Speaking for myself it was heartwarming, and while the reaction was spontaneous and a domino effect of one specific gate agent, I think it shows the appreciation that most Americans have for those men and women who risk their lives to protect our freedom.

Today, Monday, November 10th marks the 239th birthday of the United States Marines Corps.
Here at "Everything Outer Banks" we honor those who served and currently serve in this branch of the U.S. Military with a standing ovation and a heart felt "hoo rah!"

While Audrey Parker of Easton, Pennsylvania submitted her Memory Monday photos with no intention of honoring the national birthday of the Marines, when we look at her photos we can't think of how much we enjoy every day freedom.   These kids were sure enjoying themselves in these photos!

Audrey and her family stayed with Outer Banks Blue this past summer in the vacation rental property "Casa Mia" in Kill Devil Hills.

Thanks Audrey for sharing your Memory Monday photos.

All the best from the beach!
