Lighthouse Photo Bomb!: Memory Monday March 9, 2015.

Lighthouse photo bomb!

The Monday of each week brings with us not only the start of the work week, but also Everything Outer Banks' most favorite day....it is "Memory Monday!"   This is where we share photos from some of our previous guests who have been kind enough to pass along photos from their vacation with Outer Banks Blue.

This week's Memory Monday photo submission comes to us from William Suchacek of Irwin, Pennsylvania who stayed with Outer Banks Blue in the vacation rental property "Sea Song II" in Nags Head.

Bill sends along a picture taken in front of the Bodie Island Lighthouse (pronounced "body" not "boady").   This lighthouse had never been opened to the public before a year ago, but now visitors can enjoy a climb to the top 7 days a week from late April through Columbus Day weekend in October   Be aware if you have plans to climb the lighthouse bear in mind the stairs are very narrow and there are only 20 people allowed to climb the lighthouse at any given time.

Originally built in 1872 Bodie Island light stands some 170 feet tall and has one of the remarkable Fresnel Lenses in place which is an engineering marvel and something definitely worth seeing.

Thanks Bill, you make us hunger for warmer weather when we can go to Nags Head and climb the lighthouse!   Only a few weeks away.

All the best from the beach!
