Happy Independence Day!: Memory Monday July 4, 2016.

Happy Independence Day!It is a beautiful 4th of July here on the Outer Banks as everyone is set to celebrate the 240th birthday of the USA today with a trip to Duck this morning to watch the 4th of July Duck Parade, followed by a dip in the ocean, then of course cooking out at their vacation rental, and then tonight watching fireworks from one of several locations around the Outer Banks (Whalehead Club in Corolla, Avalon Pier in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head Pier in Nags Head, in Shallowbag Bay in Manteo on Roanoke Island, and in Avon off of the pier there on Hatteras Island.  Although it is a bit farther south than our area, we are also glad to report that Ocracoke Island has a fireworks display this year for the first time since 2009 when a tragic accident occurred during the set up of the display.   That reminds us to remind you that individual use of fireworks is generally illegal in North Carolina.   This includes firecrackers, fireworks that spin on the ground, roman candles, bottle rockets, and any aerial fireworks that explode.   Leave the pyrotechnic displays up to the professionals and stay safe this year.We hope you enjoy your Independence day celebration wherever it may be!This week's Memory Monday comes to us from Alan Hunter of Brandy Station, Virginia who stayed with Outer Banks Blue at the vacation rental property "Sweet Salty Air" in Nags Head.IMG_0024What 4th of July on the Outer Banks is complete without a nice jump in the pool?!Look out below!!!!Thanks Alan for sharing your photo memories on this special Monday! We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon. All the best from the beach!
