Curritcuk Beach Lighthouse: The only unpainted lighthouse in North Carolina, the Curritcuk Lighthouse built in 1875, stands 158 ft and flashes in 20-second intervals. Its light can be seen for 18 nautical miles. Hours: Sunday - Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Corolla Chapel: Corolla's only year round church was built in 1885. The church is interdenominational and has become a very popular spot for weddings.Services are held every Sunday at 10am. The 21,000 square ft cottage, cost an estimated $385,000 and took 3 years to build. Architecturally, the Whalehead is unlike any other structure on the sound. A number of different species reside in the various habitats within the estuarine including ocean beach, sand dunes, grasslands, shrub thicket, maritime forest, brackish and freshwater marshes, tidal flats and subtidal soft bottoms.
