Created in the 1940s as planned community, Southern Shores is one of the oldest planned communities on the Outer Banks. Its mix of trees, large lots, and few rental homes make it a beautiful, private community. It is the perfect place to return to when you’ve had enough of the sand.
Flanking parts of Kitty Hawk and Duck, Southern Shores is a wonderful halfway point between the Northern Beaches and the Southern. Like its Northern counterparts of Duck and Corolla, it boasts private beaches, while still being about 2 minutes away to the Southern beaches and loads of activities.
Offering benefits of both the Northern and Southern beaches, it is a great place for the first timer who is not really sure where to stay.
