Another Year Older – Memory Monday 1/3/2022

Greetings from the Outer Banks in the new year! We are all another year older now as it is officially 2022! We hope you had a great celebration to welcome the new year over the weekend and are ready to tackle this year head on.

13 Years and 400 Memory Mondays!

Since we have turned the calendar over to a new year, we took a moment to look back and see just how long we’ve been posting photo memories of our guests here each Monday. The first post we found that said “Memory Monday” was in 2009. That is 13 years ago! All told we have close to 500 photo memory posts in our record books.

We thank all of our guests who have submitted a photo for our use here on our little blog “Everything Outer Banks.” Without you sending these photos in we would not be able to keep this streak going. As it stands now we have nearly 125 pictures in our file to post. It looks like we will keep on going for quite a while longer!

This week’s Memory Monday photo comes to us from Jessica Kazmarek of Baltimore, Maryland. Jessica stayed with us last week in the Nags Head vacation rental “Sweet Isabel.” She shared with us two photos we wanted to pass along to you today.

One photo is an eerie oceanfront sunrise. You know what they say? Red sky in the morning – Sailor’s warning (of bad weather to come).

The other photo is of a dolphins (or is it a porpoise?) in the waves. Yep they hang around here all year long and they love playing in the surf when no one is around.

Another year
Beautiful sunrise on a late December Morning!
Another year
Difference between dolphins and porpoise is the shape of their snout and their teeth

What great photos Jessica. Thank you for sharing your photo memories. Last week was a wonderful time to be here at the OBX. It looks like you had a great time. A peaceful time as well.

We look forward to serving you and your family again soon.

All the best from the beach!
