Happy Memorial Day! It has been a busy weekend on the OBX with lots of visitors enjoying a getaway. The beach was not a treat on Sunday, but everyone seemed to make the most of their time. It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves this weekend.
The beginning of summer
As you are no doubt aware, the Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the summer season on the Outer Banks. We expect this summer to be one of the busiest ever. If you are planning on coming to the OBX this summer we hope you bring your patience. Staffing at many restaurants and stores is, unfortunately, going to be a constant issue this summer.
We heard a commercial on the radio this weekend sponsored by the local restaurant association which advises that diners should consider alternative eating times to avoid frustration. Early or late lunches, early or late dinners, and late breakfast arrivals are encouraged. If you have a large party of guests it is also advised to call ahead to ensure the restaurant can handle your group without frustration. Sounds like good advice to us.
On this special Monday this week’s Memory Monday photo submission comes to us from Jane Marsh of Haymarket, Virginia. Jane and her family stayed with Outer Banks Blue last week in the Duck rental property “Singing Sandpipers.”
Well the sandpipers would be singing for joy if they witnessed this beautiful sight that Jane shares with us here.
We are very impressed with Jane’s photography skills. Note the light on the clouds, the calm water in the foreground, and of course the breathtaking view of the sun setting over the Currituck Sound. You did an outstanding job on this photo Jane and it makes for a great Memory Monday. A Memorial Day Memory Monday in fact.
We look forward to serving you and your family again soon, and we look forward to welcoming all of our guests this summer.
All the best from the beach and Happy Summer!
