Happy Patriots’ Day!: Memory Monday April 18, 2016.

Happy Patriots’ Day!

Some of us are dreading today because it marks “Tax Day” on our calendars (don’t forget you have to get your taxes in by Midnight tonight!), but in Massachusetts, Maine and Wisconsin today is a state holiday that commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord (American Revolutionary War).

For elite runners today also marks the most special day on the racing calendar – The Boston Marathon!   Yes, today is the day that the streets in Boston shut down and elite athletes from around the world come to tackle one of the toughest routes in the United States.  The race has been run on Patriots’ day since 1897, and an interesting fact for those of us that only hope to qualify for “Boston” is that the race was inspired by the modern Olympic Marathon which was run for the first time in 1896 which was held in Athens

So in honor of folks running in the Boston Marathon and of course all of those fine people in Massachusetts we have chosen the photos of Debra Marquiss of Agawam, Massachusetts for this week’s Memory Monday.

Debra and her family stayed with Outer Banks Blue in the Kill Devil Hills vacation rental property “Beach Break.”

Debra’s photo shows a happy crew of folks on Jockey’s Ridge State Park during their stay.

Thanks Debra.  Enjoy Patriots’ Day and we look forward to serving you and your family again soon.

All the best from the beach!
