In a recent USA Today Travel Section article former NFL All-Pro Running Back Tiki Barber identified Pine Island in Corolla on the Outer Banks to be his favorite vacation spot. Barber, who played for 10 years for the New York Giants, and currently works for NBC Television as a correspondent for the Today show and an analyst on Football Night in America first discovered the Outer Banks when he went to college at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from the OBX!
Did you know that the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the state of North Carolina resides right here on the Outer Banks? Yep, that is right. The annual Kelly’s Hospitality St. Patrick’s Day Parade is it, and it was held this last weekend in Nags Head. Stretching along a parade route of approximately 1 mile on the beach road at the 11.5 milepost were thousands of fans, friends, and fabulous folks from the Outer Banks cheering on all of the paraders in this 20th annual edition of the parade.
It was hoped this final meeting of the group would produce a consensus agreement, but in the end varying interests were unwilling to compromise to a point where consensus could be reached and deadlock was the only achievement of the committee.
Excitement is building in anticipation of the upcoming Outer Banks Taste of the Beach (March 5th through March 8th)! Ticket sales are extremely brisk, and many events have already sold out, but some of the prime events still have room and the weather is supposed to be great!
So the Outer Banks Blue Vacation Rental Crew is back on the beach this Monday after an eventful weekend at the National Geographic Adventure in Travel show in Washington DC this past weekend.
I hope you made note of the new design of www.outerbanksblue.com. In our constant effort to be the vacation rental company of choice on the Outer Banks we launched our new design on Monday, February 16th. In response to customer comments and suggestions there are lots of changes can be found on the site including better search parameters, a more clear presentation of available weeks on individual homes, better organization of guest comments, more obvious integration of Google Maps locations on our homes, and just a new overall feel of the site.
This week on Memory Monday we reflect on another big event that occurred on the Outer Banks in 2008. The release of the major motion picture “Nights in Rodanthe.”
Well anyone who knows me knows I enjoy the restaurants of the Outer Banks as much as anyone, and so excitement is building as we are all awaiting the “Outer Banks Taste of The Beach.” A huge success in previous years, the Outer Banks Restaurant Association, of which Outer Banks Blue Realty is a proud affiliate member, is expanding the event this year to four full days of Outer Banks Food and Fun!
I saw this online and I thought you would like to see photos from last June’s Outer Banks trip to Corolla Light Resort and Trade Winds.
Three separate families – 6 children aged 9 months to 7 years.
For 2009 Outer Banks Blue will be running a contest for the best entries onto our blog by our rental guests called “Memory Monday.” We know that you enjoy your time on the Outer Banks, and judging from our photo gallery, you all love to show us the visual memories of your stay on the Outer Banks. We can only imagine that when you return home from your vacation that on the Monday after your stay you are probably still nostalgic about your stay, and may even thumb through your photos to have a smile and a warm thought about your time away! We want to be a part of those memories!
