=&1=& Yes on Tuesday, December3 the NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Closed the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge, which spans Oregon Inlet and connects Hatteras Island to other parts of the Outer Banks. This is the first time since 1990 the bridge has been closed for repairs. =&2=&

Frisco Pier to Be Torn Down

We were greeted by news on Saturday morning that the National Park Service expects to remove the remnants of The Frisco Fishing Pier.

The iconic, but extremely battered pier officially known as “The Cape Hatteras Fishing Pier” has been closed for more than 5 years (except for a brief period in 2010) due to years of exposure to storms. READ MORE

Back to school for many Outer Banks “Blue” kids!

School started for many students & employees across the Outer Banks and throughout North Carolina this week.  Their new book bags, shoes, and lunch boxes can be found throughout the halls.  The families that travel for the next few weeks share a different experience on the OBX.  Many are possibly traveling without kiddos, from a state where school has not started, or they are bringing their babies for their first glares of the sand covered beaches!  READ MORE
