This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Kristy Bishop of Mechanicsville, Maryland who stayed with Outer Banks Blue in July at the property “Heaven Sent.” It is appropriate that we share this photo with you today as this past weekend a national sand sculpting contest was held in Virginia Beach. We think this week’s picture would be a good entrant for the contest there!
Outer Banks wrapping up Beach Nourishment
Beach Nourishment is wrapping things up for September 2011. At this point, we are looking forward to the sight of a gorgeous beach with miles of beautiful sand and sunshine!

Post Hurricane Irene Update #4

Access to the northern beaches of the Outer Banks is now permitted with all roadblocks now removed.
Unfortunately some of our properties did sustain damage and some guest arrivals could not be accommodated for the remainder of this week while repairs are being made to some properties.

Visitors should delay their arrival.
Hurricane Irene has now passed the Outer Banks, but arriving rental guests this week should plan on delaying their arrival until damage assessments and clean up can be completed.

Hurricane Irene’s effects are being felt along the Outer Banks this morning. Hurricane force winds, heavy rain, and tidal flooding are combining for terrible conditions in Outer Banks locations from Corolla through Nags Head. Electricity is out in some areas, and roads are extremely flooded.
Hurricane Irene Update 8/25/11 12 PM
Hurricane Irene is a large and dangerous storm and all storm track predictions indicted landfall will occur on the Outer Banks over this weekend. The Outer Banks is under a Hurricane Watch at this time and a mandatory evacuation order is in effect for all visitors as of Thursday morning (8/25/11). A state of emergency is also in effect for the area, and residents are being required to leave as of Friday morning.
