Hurricane Sandy Advisory #1 from O.B. Blue

Hurricane Sandy Advisory (10/26/12 4:00 PM) Lots of folks are thinking about Hurricane Sandy this weekend.   The residents and visitors of the Outer Banks are no different.   The farthest reaches of Hurricane Sandy are now beginning to affect the Outer Banks this afternoon as light rain and a slight Southeast breeze has changed our recent beautiful sunny and clear weather pattern. The mid day update on Hurricane Sandy shows that the storm continues to move as predicted which would take the center of the storm some 200 miles off of the coast of North Carolina. At this time the effects on the Outer Banks this weekend are predicted to be moderate with heavy rain (possibly in excess of 5 inches in places), winds up to 45 MPH, and some tidal flooding especially during the full moon of Sunday night. Of particular concern are low lying areas of Highway 12 in Kitty Hawk, and near the New Inlet Bridge on Hatteras Island. The eye of the storm is expected to pass the Outer Banks overnight Sunday night and into Monday morning.
Projected path of Hurricane Sandy
The local emergency management group has just revealed that at this time there are no plans for evacuation of any areas of Dare County in advance of the storm.   It will be business as usual for us on the Outer Banks.   The storm is expected to make landfall on Monday at some point some 200 or more miles north of the Outer Banks.   If you have a scheduled arrival at one of our rental properties this weekend, please plan on checking into the property as normal.   All roads and bridges are expected to be open and passable throughout the storm.  We will be here and be sure your accommodation is ready for your arrival. Outer Banks Blue maintenance and management staff will be busy all weekend ensuring that properties are in good shape and secure from the approaching storm.  If you have any questions please call our main office at 888-727-3102.  We have operators on duty 24 hours a day. We will continue to update this page on a regular basis as we get updates from our local emergency management team, but no significant changes are expected in the forecast for the Outer Banks. All the best from the beach!

Vote NO for Hurricane Sandy!

On the Outer Banks, we have had our share of storms of all kinds. We all hope that “Hurricane Sandy” keeps her peace in the ocean and blows out to sea. For those of you concerned, the Outer Banks has dealt with many different types of storms in the past all throughout the years. The locals & business owners are voting NO for Hurricane Sandy, in hopes that the wind & rain is all that we see. We also hope that Sandy leaves the coastal areas quickly & safely. We have our vacationers residing or visiting the North in mind, and wish the same for those coastal areas. Stay informed and stay safe, and Outer Banks Blue will be here 7 days a week to better serve you.   Greetings from the beach!

Happy Labor Day from the Outer Banks!

This week’s Memory Monday we want to take a moment to wish everyone a very happy labor day. We hope you enjoy a day off from your work and reflect on a great summer (that we hope included a trip to the Outer Banks and a stay with Outer Banks Blue)!  Today’s picture comes to us from Jessica Wright of Warwick, New York who stayed with Outer Banks Blue this past June in the property “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem!” Judging by the looks of the picture of her 2 1/2 year old son Aubrey, who is enjoying running along Jockey’s Ridge in Nags Head, they picked the correct house! Jessica tells us “This was our first visit to the OBX, but it won’t be our last!”  Thanks Jessica for sharing your photo memories with us!  All the best from the beach!

Happy Labor Day on the Outer Banks at the Beach to Ease Your Mind

I have heard many people say that all of their worries melt away the moment the cross the bridge over to the Outer Banks. “It’s just another mind set”, or “everyone is in vacation mode”, and that is for sure even down to how businesses are operated. You will find a smiling face in an office building here on the Outer Banks with flip flops and a sun dress when stopping by a local realty office. Outer Banks Blue takes pride in being “The Vacation Rental Firm That NEVER Goes On Vacation!” here on the OBX. Michelle Elmore gets out of the office to share a sunny day, the last weekend of the offical “summer season” for 2012 here on the Outer Banks. The high is 82, but the humidity is up compared to recent weeks of cooler weather and rain. The last chance to get your summer tan has come and we hope to see you all out there this weekend!

Reservations being taken at this time for the remainder of 2012 (including family holidays together at the beach), and the entire year of 2013, so call today 877 248 4823! READ MORE
