Happy Labor Day on the Outer Banks at the Beach to Ease Your Mind

I have heard many people say that all of their worries melt away the moment the cross the bridge over to the Outer Banks. “It’s just another mind set”, or “everyone is in vacation mode”, and that is for sure even down to how businesses are operated. You will find a smiling face in an office building here on the Outer Banks with flip flops and a sun dress when stopping by a local realty office. Outer Banks Blue takes pride in being “The Vacation Rental Firm That NEVER Goes On Vacation!” here on the OBX. Michelle Elmore gets out of the office to share a sunny day, the last weekend of the offical “summer season” for 2012 here on the Outer Banks. The high is 82, but the humidity is up compared to recent weeks of cooler weather and rain. The last chance to get your summer tan has come and we hope to see you all out there this weekend!

Reservations being taken at this time for the remainder of 2012 (including family holidays together at the beach), and the entire year of 2013, so call today 877 248 4823! READ MORE

Enjoy a Beautiful Outer Banks Sunset

This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Penny Bentley of Kitty Hawk who works at OBX Bank and is a long time resident of the area. Penny also is Outer Banks Blue’s banking guru and takes good care of our accounts.
Penny takes a walk every morning to start her day right and this is a picture that she took on her morning walk THIS morning (8/27/12).
Outer Banks Blue has openings on our properties in September and the weather is typically perfect during that time! Thanks Penny for sharing a great Memory Monday! All the best from the beach! READ MORE

Our Trip to Jockey’s Ridge

This week’s Memory Monday photo submission comes to us from Pamela Butler of Smithville, Pennsylvania who stayed with Outer Banks Bluein June at the property “Moonstruck” on the oceanfront in NagsHead.  Instead of photos of the ocean or the kids playing on the beach Pamela has shared with us a very popular location on the Outer Banks that we do not have many pictures of – Jockey’s Ridge State Park! These pictures of Pamela and her family enjoying Jockey’s Ridge reminds us of the many, many different activities there are to enjoy here on the Outer Banks.  Jockey’s ridge state park contains the tallest living sand dune on the east coast.  The park covers 426 acres and the tallest point rises more than 100 feet above sea level.  Scientists believe Jockey’s ridge was created at the end of the last ice age some 12,000 years ago and the park has more than 39 million tons of sand for visitors to enjoy. The sunsets from the top of the ridge are epic, and the park also is home to the largest hang gliding school in the world (Kitty Hawk Kites). The Butler clan enjoyed climbing Jockey’s ridge before heading over to Manteo on Roanoke Island where they had dinner at Big Al’s Soda Fountain and Grill.   That’s where the picture of the Butler kids was taken in the oversized lounge chair. Thanks Pamela for sharing your photo memories.  We look forward to serving you again! All the best from the beach!

Let Outer Banks Blue ease your Mind

When you think of a vacation, what comes to mind? Oh yeah we remember, “waiting in line in an office for a key to the house, only to unpack your linens to make the bed; to scramble to find toilet paper and paper towels for using the restroom after a long ride to your destination”, right?… READ MORE

Memory Monday on the Outer Banks

This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Tara Portsey of New York, New York who stayed with Outer Banks Blue in early June this year at the property “Guaranteed Fun.” Judging from this picture of “Sophia” we think the house name fit the experience well as Sophia is obviously having a big time on the beach!

Surfing in the Outer Banks

This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Diana L. Kunselman of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania who stayed with Outer Banks Blue over Memorial Day week in Nags Head at the property “Whitman’s Sampler.” Tropical storm Beryl rolled through the Outer Banks during her stay and as you can see in the attached photo of her fellow vacationers they made the most of the opportunity by doing some “Redneck surfing” as she termed it. Even when a storm is evident the Atlantic ocean can still be a beautiful picture as evidenced in this second photo. The power of the sea really comes through in this shot. Ride the GO-CARTS on the Outer Banks in Kill Devil Hills

You can go zoom zoom & put the pedal to the metal and not worry about blue lights behind you at a Go-cart track on the Outer Banks! One of the many things you see families doing together while on vacation is going to ride the Go-carts. Each kid hopes they are tall enough this year to ride alone and without their parents. There are tracks in Corolla, Kill Devil Hills, & Nags Head. The Go-cart track just a few miles down Collington Road has 3 tracks. One track is for children 4-6 years old, with another track is the Family track where children can ride with the family or race in a single cart, and the last track is the FAST Adult track and no children are allowed. It’s a fun way to beat the heat and enjoy the beach once the sun goes down! Call Outer Banks Blue for details on where to go by your vacation home 877 248 4823!  READ MORE

Flying Kites in the Outer Banks

This week’s Memory Monday photo submission comes to us from Sharlene Crowell of Cicero, New York who stayed with Outer Banks Blue last month in the property “All Seasons” in Nags Head. This photo is of Shar and her husband sitting on the deck of the house enjoying the view which she tells us is one of her favorite pastimes. Shar also tells us one of her other favorite memories from visiting the Outer Banks in Mid-May was watching her guests fly kites on the beach like this “Red Baron” kite that she caught a shot of.
