Happy Labor Day from the Outer Banks!

This week’s Memory Monday we want to take a moment to wish everyone a very happy labor day. We hope you enjoy a day off from your work and reflect on a great summer (that we hope included a trip to the Outer Banks and a stay with Outer Banks Blue)!  Today’s picture comes to us from Jessica Wright of Warwick, New York who stayed with Outer Banks Blue this past June in the property “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem!” Judging by the looks of the picture of her 2 1/2 year old son Aubrey, who is enjoying running along Jockey’s Ridge in Nags Head, they picked the correct house! Jessica tells us “This was our first visit to the OBX, but it won’t be our last!”  Thanks Jessica for sharing your photo memories with us!  All the best from the beach!

Enjoy a Beautiful Outer Banks Sunset

This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Penny Bentley of Kitty Hawk who works at OBX Bank and is a long time resident of the area. Penny also is Outer Banks Blue’s banking guru and takes good care of our accounts.
Penny takes a walk every morning to start her day right and this is a picture that she took on her morning walk THIS morning (8/27/12).
Outer Banks Blue has openings on our properties in September and the weather is typically perfect during that time! Thanks Penny for sharing a great Memory Monday! All the best from the beach! READ MORE

Our Trip to Jockey’s Ridge

This week’s Memory Monday photo submission comes to us from Pamela Butler of Smithville, Pennsylvania who stayed with Outer Banks Bluein June at the property “Moonstruck” on the oceanfront in NagsHead.  Instead of photos of the ocean or the kids playing on the beach Pamela has shared with us a very popular location on the Outer Banks that we do not have many pictures of – Jockey’s Ridge State Park! These pictures of Pamela and her family enjoying Jockey’s Ridge reminds us of the many, many different activities there are to enjoy here on the Outer Banks.  Jockey’s ridge state park contains the tallest living sand dune on the east coast.  The park covers 426 acres and the tallest point rises more than 100 feet above sea level.  Scientists believe Jockey’s ridge was created at the end of the last ice age some 12,000 years ago and the park has more than 39 million tons of sand for visitors to enjoy. The sunsets from the top of the ridge are epic, and the park also is home to the largest hang gliding school in the world (Kitty Hawk Kites). The Butler clan enjoyed climbing Jockey’s ridge before heading over to Manteo on Roanoke Island where they had dinner at Big Al’s Soda Fountain and Grill.   That’s where the picture of the Butler kids was taken in the oversized lounge chair. Thanks Pamela for sharing your photo memories.  We look forward to serving you again! All the best from the beach!

Corolla Family Vacation in the Outer Banks

Here’s a great picture submitted to us by Gary Szczensny of Tonawanda, New York. Mr. Szczensny and his clan have vacationed with Outer Banks Blue several times over the years, most recently they stayed with us in Corolla at the property “House on The Hill” in early June.
On a beautiful August Monday morning we thought this picture was a great memory to share with our readers and remind us all of what the beach is all about – friends, family and fun! Thank you Gary for such a great picture.
Don’t forget to send along your best vacation memory pictures to be placed on our blog each Monday. Once per month we draw a random winner of a $100 gift certificate good towards a future stay with Outer Banks Blue! All the best from the beach! READ MORE

Memory Monday on the Outer Banks

This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Tara Portsey of New York, New York who stayed with Outer Banks Blue in early June this year at the property “Guaranteed Fun.” Judging from this picture of “Sophia” we think the house name fit the experience well as Sophia is obviously having a big time on the beach!

Surfing in the Outer Banks

This week’s Memory Monday submission comes to us from Diana L. Kunselman of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania who stayed with Outer Banks Blue over Memorial Day week in Nags Head at the property “Whitman’s Sampler.” Tropical storm Beryl rolled through the Outer Banks during her stay and as you can see in the attached photo of her fellow vacationers they made the most of the opportunity by doing some “Redneck surfing” as she termed it. Even when a storm is evident the Atlantic ocean can still be a beautiful picture as evidenced in this second photo. The power of the sea really comes through in this shot. This week’s Memory Monday photo submission comes to us from Sharlene Crowell of Cicero, New York who stayed with Outer Banks Blue last month in the property “All Seasons” in Nags Head. This photo is of Shar and her husband sitting on the deck of the house enjoying the view which she tells us is one of her favorite pastimes. Shar also tells us one of her other favorite memories from visiting the Outer Banks in Mid-May was watching her guests fly kites on the beach like this “Red Baron” kite that she caught a shot of. Tanya shares this photo which symbolizes the feeling of the entire Outer Banks Blue staff today…..”Thumbs up! Summer is here!” Today, Memorial Day, marks the official start of the summer season here on the Outer Banks. Our roads are a bit busier, the beach has a few more people laying on it today, and the sun seems to be just a little bit hotter. Even though we still have a few days left in May we are all in a summer mind set here on the Outer Banks, and we look forward to seeing you here soon! As Tanya would say “Thumbs up” for an Outer Banks Blue vacation! All the best from the beach! READ MORE
