Mermaid’s Lair is a great value for families that love the beach! Private pool has lots of room for the kids to play around the pool while adults soak up the sun. Best features are the view, decks and that great dune top deck. . .it’s huge! Imagine sitting there with your morning coffee watching the sun rise. . .or relaxing with a drink watching the kids surf! What? You are going inside? The LCD TV in the Great Room is perfect for movies and all bedrooms have LCD TVs too for private quiet moments for you, or so the kids can play their games while you catch up on your reading. There is more than enough room for all to eat meals together and the top level has plenty of space for the whole crowd to mingle and enjoy just being together. The screened porch is calling you for board games or cards. . .this property is the one to bond, get plenty of fresh ocean air and enjoy all the beach has to offer.

Mermaid’s Lair is a fisherman’s paradise! Just a couple minutes from Oregon Inlet, or drive a few more to get to Pirate’s Cove Marina. While you are at the property you are closer to the wide-open spaces of the National Seashore BUT just minutes from restaurants, shopping, groceries, historic sites and more.

Private Pools are open starting the first weekend in May through the second weekend in October. Pool heat is not an option for this property. Hot tubs are available year-round. Gas fireplaces are shut down from May 15 until September 15.


All Outer Banks Blue vacation rentals include bed linens, with beds made prior to your arrival for convenience. We provide 1 bath towel and washcloth per advertised occupant, and 1 hand towel and 1 bar of soap per sink. Kitchens include drying towels. We also provide a starter supply of paper towels, dishwashing detergent, and toilet paper.

Wonderful
The house was wonderful, big, roomy, clean, each bedroom has access to a deck, the house sits on the beach so easy access! The kitchen is terrifically stocked with anything you may need. Great sunset views on the very top deck. All of us (a girls weekend) would come back to this house again.

Everything we could have asked for in OBX
Really loved this home with its numerous decks, large Great Room and kitchen, and superb cleanliness. Did not have a beach the first two days of our stay, due to off shore hurricanes but when it opened up it was lovely. Only issue we had was a dirty pool when we arrived, but it was remedied two days later. All communications with Outer Banks Blue were cordial and helpful. Perfect home and location for my guests and I, and if my group were to be the same size next year would definitely book again!! PS. Only wish would be for more accommodating chairs on the upper deck - two Adirondack chairs were extremely uncomfortable and not nearly enough for 10.

Short stay
We came down for the Taste of the Beach. The house was perfect for our family. The grandkids loved all the mermaids in the house and made a game of trying to find and count them. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the top deck looking over the ocean and evening beverage watching sunsets from the crow’s nest. We are already planning next year’s visit.

Spring Break Stay 2025
The home is very nice, clean, and organized. Love the private access to the beach. We were not able to enjoy the pool (due to the season), but the hot tub was very nice and relaxing. We would definitely stay in this home again. Thank you for sharing your home.
