Town of Duck 4th of July Parade
Friday, July 4
Starting at 9am
Starting in the morning, the town of Duck’s 4th of July parade is a one-mile route starting on Scarborough Lane, travels east towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then continues onto Christopher Drive to end at Pamela Court.
Afterwards, the party continues in the Duck Town Park with music, drink, and watermelons provided by Green Acres Farm Market! The parade awards ceremony will also be held at the park – something you don’t want to miss!
Friday, July 4
Starting at 9:15pm
Come down to Avalon Pier for the Kill Devil Hills fireworks show! Make sure that you bring your own beach chairs and please make sure you’re using one of the public access points. The show will also be livestreamed if you can’t make it in person!
Killer Dunes
Friday, July 4
Starting at 8am
Start off Independence Day right with a short 2 mile run over the dunes at Jockey's Ridge State Park! But just because it’s short, doesn’t mean it’s easy. In fact, if you want to participate but don’t think you can run the entire way, no problem! Everyone is welcome to walk or hike the trail if they don’t want to run the route! All proceeds from the race go to help preserve Jockey’s Ridge (tickets start at $60 for adults).
If you're interested in a shorter race, the 1 mile Color Run might be more your speed. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jockey's Ridge State Park, the Color Run takes place alongside the Killer Dunes run and costs a fraction of what Killer Dunes does (only $35 per person). That makes it the perfect ticket for the members of your party that want to be included, but don't necessarily feel up to the 2 mile run.
Pick up your packet on Thursday, July 3, or Friday before the race, and kick off Independence Day right!
Town of Nags Head Fireworks Spectacular
Friday July 4
Starting at 9:25pm
Make your way down to the Nags Head Pier for a fireworks spectacular for July 4th! The town of Nags Head is proud to present this professionally curated display to celebrate Independence Day. If there’s rain, no need to fret – a rain date of Saturday, July 5 has been set.
While the police will be helping to direct traffic, it’s recommended that you park on the east side of the highway (the same side as the pier), and please use public beach accesses – please don’t cross over the dunes or private property to reach the beach. If you’re parking on the west side of the highway, please use EXTREME caution crossing the highway! Always make sure you’re using designated crosswalks!
In addition, please remember that no vehicles are authorized on the beach except for official town or emergency vehicles, and that blocking driveways or otherwise causing a traffic hazard will cause the vehicle to be towed.
The town of Nags Head recommends the following beach accesses:
- Curlew Street
- Hollowell Street
- Conch Street
- Bladen Street
- Blackman Street
- Bonnett Street
- Bittern Street
Take a step back into the 1800s and celebrate the 4th of July with a visit to the Island Farm! Bring a picnic with you, and enjoy the musket-fire, traditional games, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Tickets are $11, and children 3 and under get in free, so enjoy lunch and a show at Island Farm this Fourth of July!
Friday, July 4
Starting at 4pm
Enjoy an afternoon in downtown Manteo at George Washington Creef Park! The festivities begin at 4pm with the singing of the National Anthem and continue until after dark when an explosive fireworks show concludes the evening!
You are encouraged to come by early to drop off your apple pie for the apple pie contest (entries are accepted between 3:30pm and 4pm), or to line up for the bike parage that starts at 4pm - trikes, scooters, and wagons are welcome as well.
Enjoy live music from the 80s tribute band The Deloreans from 5:30pm to 9pm, and grab some food from the food trucks on site! Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are encouraged - because after dusk, the fireworks show begins.
Please be aware that that portions of Queen Elizabeth Avenue and Fernando Street will be closed, and parking will not be available at the Weather Tower Parking Lot or along Fernando Street. There will, however, be free parking AND a shuttle service from the College of the Albemarle and Manteo Elementary School.
