Relaxing in the OBX

This week's Memory Monday submission comes to us from Nigel Read of Coventry England. Nigel and the Read family visited the Outer Banks in August 2011 and stayed in "Sandpalace OBX" when they were here.

We will let Nigel tell the story of his family's memory Monday submission:

'We are writing to you to let you know how much we enjoyed our holiday this year in 'Sand Palace'. We thought the house was an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday, everything inside the house was in excellent order and very comfortable. The outside space was fantastic, we spent many evenings relaxing on the upstairs deck watching the moon rise and stars appear.

We are from the UK and have not spent time in the Outer Banks before. We found it to be beautiful, lovely weather and a great 'holiday vibe'. We have three grown up children with partners and a grandchild. Everyone agreed that it was one of the best holidays ever and that the house and location were ideal.

We were really disappointed when the holiday was cut short because of Hurricane Irene. The sheriff informed us on the Wednesday night at 9.00pm that we had to be gone by 8.00 the next morning. Up to this point we had been in full holiday mode and had not tracked the progress of the hurricane. That night we hurriedly packed our things, put the house in the best order we could and left at 5.00 the next morning.

We would very much like to return to Duck in a year or so and would love to be able to book this house again, this time on a longer lease, perhaps for five weeks. I will be retiring from my job as principle of a school in England and will be looking for somewhere that we can sit back and truly relax.

Best Regards from England
Nigel Read and the whole Read family."

Thank you for sharing Nigel, and we look forward to serving you again soon!

All the best from the beach!
